Academic Council

This academic enterprise, commenced in February 2008, incorporates these objectives:

1. To commence an academic forum for commercial shipping managers
2. To promote the spread of practical knowledge for middle & junior
   management cadres
3. To create a medium for passing on the experience and wisdom of
   upper management to those down the line
4. To promote direct exchanges of professional knowledge within
   shipping professionals
5. To learn from distinguished professionals & academicians.
   That the above objectives are being accomplished in continuity is apparent from the following:
6. 12 well-attended seminars have been conducted over a period of
   10 years
7. An average of above 110 delegates from India and abroad have
   attended each of these seminars. These delegates have belonged to a
   wide variety of companies, representing ship owning, ship managing,
   trading, chartering, shipping agencies, ship brokers, ship sale &
   purchase, multimodal, logistics and allied industries.
8. The seminar subjects have been chosen with great consideration,
   ensuring they are contemporary, of practical use to the professional,
   and above all are need-based from the viewpoint of the end user and
   the industry.
9. The speakers were selected with care that their experience and
   reputation are suitable for the topics they were to cover. Such
   speakers were sourced nationally and also from abroad.
10. To share shipping knowledge with other related industry like ports,
    finance, banking, engineering & exports.
11. The Academic council that plans and directs the seminars now
    consists of, besides ourselves, Mr. Nigel Bell of Bell Shipping, UK;
    and Mr. Bansi Jaising of Seagate Shipping, Mumbai.
